Many of our volunteers have not experienced the life situations our clients have walked through. These videos are perfect for times like that. Our volunteers and clients really appreciate that the videos have individuals who can share personal testimony. The videos not only discuss the situation, but also share steps to find healing. One thing that is really useful is the homework check-list in the Domestic Abuse lesson. We use it with clients to objectively look at their relationships and think through what is ok and what is not.

This is an essential module for centers, as we all need to be trauma-informed and sensitive to various needs and hurts. It is my favorite for clients with trauma history. (And the majority of clients I work with have experienced at least one or several of, and often repeatedly, these traumatic events.) Although they do not take the place of counseling, these DVDs/lessons assist in opening the door to identifying/discussing hurts and the subsequent referral for specialized assistance or therapy.
